hi all,

to those who are already in sask, appreciate if you could give us an idea of the average monthly expenditure for a family of 4. like how much will be spent for food, utilities (internet, phone, electricity), car insurance, gasoline, flat/apartment rental. thanks...

There's 3 of us in the family...

Food -$125 a week, power -$40 a month, cable with internet -$100 a month, rent for a 2 bedroom apartment -$960, gas -$35 a week, car payment -$262 biweekly, car insurance- $106 biweekly, water and heating included sa rent.

I live in Regina... Hope this helps

Where your kids will attend school will depend on where you live, kung anong school nakakasakop sa lugar mo...so if may suggest si tigerlily or anyone from saskatoon na magandang school then i guess
It will be best to find a house/apt near that school.

Good luck!

thanks rubyalabar! car payment? is this for the amortization? ang mahal ng car insurance, $212 monthly! so i really need to get a part time job para di naman kami hand-to-mouth. i think $16 per hr lang ang offer sa husband ko, for a start mabubuhay naman siguro kami jan. health benefits can be availed after 3 months, right? did you get a temporary insurance before you left for canada or jan kn kumuha? how about the child tax benefit? is this given monthly? pasensya na, dami ko tanong. but i really appreciate your inputs. thanks so much.

Sorry ellian25, car insurance pala is $106 a month. Auto loan yung car payments. Yung health insurance, you're covered from the day you arrive here, there's no waiting time kaya no need to get temporary health insurance. Child tax benefit na natatanggap ko is $105 a month, depende kasi sa income yun e, pero if your kid is less than 6 years old you'll get additional $100 per month universal child care benefit.

Kaya naman ng $16 per hour ang expenses, medyo tipid lang talaga. May mga kilala kami dito na ganun din ang rate and ok naman yun lang wala na para sa savings.

Ok din mag part time, pwede pag weekends or after ng work ng hubby mo. Dito pag 12 years old and above pwede na maiwan mag isa sa house and pwede na din magbantay ng mas batang kapatid. Kami kasi nilagay namin anak ko sa licensed day care, $135 bi weekly. Medyo mahal pero at least nakafull time job din ako.

hi im a newbie here..i am applying as a nurse in Canada under CPNIS but they said my IELTS is not okey..is it true that the IELTS score needed is 8?
is anyone here applied with the help of CPNIS?
pls help me!

hi rubyalabar,

my kids are 6 & 8 yo next year. hope i'll be able to get a part time that has the same sched with my kids. but if we'll find a day care center with the same rate as yours, then i'll go find a full time job. i read somewhere that health insurance is effective after 3 mos of landing (excluding alberta and manitoba), but since you said it otherwise, that's really a relief. we don't need to spend extra for the temporary insurance. salamat talaga, what you've shared are really helpful. btw, meron bang career bridge sa sask? thanks

Hello fellow Saskatonians! I am new here in Saskatoon but i really enjoyed staying here. Ive gone all over the city last summer para daw maikot ko naman Saskatoon. SINP d2 is mabilis kc kulang papulasyon. Low cost of living din but to those na sanay sa city you might find it medyo slow or boring. All in all maganda d2..mababait mga tao..kaliwa't kanan may makikita kang Pinoy.. Gudluck sa mga papunta d2 and hope ma meet ko mga nand2 na. ;D :D

Hello mylady833! Welcome to the thread... I hope dumami pa tayo dito and let's keep the thread alive!

OO tama si Rubyalabar....ang schools ng mga bata is depende sa area nyo....minsan malayo (which they may need to ride the school bus to school) or malapit lang like my kids...2 mins walk lang nasa school na sila :D

Sa amin namn nandito kami sa east side ng Stoon,we are 4 in my family....we pay $895/month for a 2 br apartment (3rd floor kami),$50-60 for power,$150 for cable, home phone and internet (sasktel),$150 sa cellphones naming ni hubby(sasktel), NO car payment...we bought our car outright...ayaw ni hubby magcar loan,my SGI (car insurance) is $77/month, Food namin is $100 per week, gas is $20/week (malapit lng work ni hubby).

My kids (i have 2....grade 1 at grade 7) go to Catholic school....meron ding public school dito sa tabi naming kaso son ko ang pumili ng school niya, which he made the best decision kasi very tolerant sila sa mga bata....nung first year dito ng son ko marami siyang gnawang mali pero unti unti ini-explain nila why di niya dapat gawin ang ganito at ganyan....then they will call the parent to explain what happened and if there is any punishment necessary...sa awa ng Diyos kahit me nagawang mali young son ko eh wla naming punishment yung bata. Follow up na lang ginawa ko :D BTW,older kids (like grade 5 and up) have annual outings....swimming,ski/snowboardng etc....make sure you child knows how to swim, kasi son ko muntik na malunod sa 1st outing niya lol.....

hi tigerlilly! so more or less we'll have the same expenses kase we're also 4 in the family. my kids are 6 & 8 yo next year. sana makahanap din kami ng apartment near the school cause i bet it would be really difficult for the kids to travel goin' school during winter.gusto ko rin sa catholic school sila makapasok. lahat ba ng schools merong french immersion? advantage kase if bilingual or multilingual mga bata. are your kids in a before/after school day care? plan namin ipasok mga bata sa before/after school care so i can work full time. i read in the forums that most of the jobs are not advertised but thru referral instead. just in case you know a company looking for a bookkeeper/acctg technician, refer mo ko ha, hehehe. dito sa 'tin, me & my husband are both accountants by profession. but since phil CPAs are not recognized in canada, then i'm sure i'll be lucky enough to get an acctg technician position. i don't mind though, our goal is really for the future of our kids. mag-aral na lng ulit kami ng husband ko once we have the means.

i'll take note of ur advise re swimming lessons... hope to see you in sk! ;)

@jandox, thank you nga pala and congrats. i read on the other thread, DM kn pala! congratssssssss.....
