it's your choice if gusto mo mag international license .. or yung lto certificate .. basta sasabihin ko sayo .. mura kotse dito pamatay insurance .. lalo na if naka international license ka .. iba ang rate .. kaya better if you get your alberta license fast rather than wait for a year .. insurance ng kotse ko .. 2012 chevy cruze ltz(sport trim) 26k$price .. 165$ per month full coverage sa 2011 gmc acadia lt (high trim suv) ko naman 260$ per month .. but brand new yan saka full coverage .. so its up to you .. if you think when you got here in alberta you'd land a high paying job agad go for international license .. kasi afford mo to pay high insurance .. but if you're starting from scratch i would suggest take my word .. go get certificate to so you can skip waiting period .. and have alberta license within a month

im in alberta since 2010 .. =)) and iba din ang rate ng insurance sa town at sa city .. yang insurance rate ko para sa town yan sa city mas mahal pa .. kasi mas malaki ang risk ..

baka kasi mapakamot ka ng ulo at Ctrain pati bus ang bagsak mo pag nakita mo magkano insurance mo hahaha .. no offense that really happens .. may idea ka ba anong kotse gagamitin mo pag dating mo sa calgary ??

ilang years na ba driving records mo sa pinas .. i would think you have more than 5 years .. but well pwede ka din kumuha ng international license if tingin mo d enough yung para sa certificate .. ph license is valid for 3 months from the date you land .. with certificate that would be more than enough time to get alberta class 5 ..

We check through ECAS (you can just google, ecas canada). You'll get a file/UCI number once CIC responds to you, either to acknowledge receipt of your app or approval of sponsorship.

you mean my husband who is the sponsor should check that or can i do it here in the Philippines. He's in Canada right now. Does it mean the UCI will be given to him through notification?

Getting the GCMS notes will not help speed up the process but it will help you see where your application is at. I ordered one for my spouse already (he's the one to be sponsored) but I haven't received it. It's only $5 anyway.

I've also contacted my MP to ask for an update. All they said was my application is still within processing times and to contact them by July if there'll be no update by then. What's your timeline?

Both of you can check it as many times as you like.
You'll get the UCI or File number once you receive a correspondence from them. It's usually at the top.

MP stands for Member of Parliament and it's kind of equivalent to your councillors in the Philippines. I think??? They're your representative in the government.
So for the sponsor to contact his/her MP, check it based on location: http://www.parl.gc.ca/Parlinfo/Compilations/HouseofCommons/MemberByPostalCode.aspx?Menu=HOC

Then the sponsor can send them an email, or call them, or leave a comment on their website about the situation.

Seeing your timeline though, you're still in the early stages of this long process. Contacting your MP might not be needed at this point.
