We are just finishing our application, and are going through the photos we will be including.

Currently we have close to 1,000 photos which is a lot (only a small 1% sampling of our collection). What would be considered excessive, or not enough?

We included around 20 photos total with ours.

I would say anything over 100 is pretty excessive, but i guess it depends if your application is weak in other areas or have some other red flags that could be an issue.

Agreed! We prolly have 1,000 as well, and we only included 60 or so with our application. If they want more they can ask. If it's proof of communication they want, all the photos in the world won't address that.

We put in like 25. A few to show passage of time of us being together, one per occasion. Several of our engagement and several of both families together at our wedding.

How does everybody go about the pics? - they say do not send the originals (which no one would have more than 10 around the house - everything is in digital, right?) so can we just print out the digital shots on regular paper?

thank you

We printed about 80 pictures of our outings, wedding, and a reception... we sent actual photos as everything is in digital format anyway. Some offices do return photos once the COPR is issued. On top of it, we've been together for over a year now, so we had to prove that our relationship is genuine. Photos can be photo-shopped nowadays, so if I were you I'd concentrate on other things as well - gift receipts, greeting cards, boarding passes, utility/rent bills, chat/SMS/phone logs... the more the merrier.

Thanks for the answers. Looks like we have to prune our list a little then, to under 100.

Our marriage is genuine, and we have been living together for 5 years, married for 4. We have a 2yo as well. I really doubt we need much in the form of photo proof, but we have over 100,000 pictures since we met, and are having a hard time picking the ones we should include.

try and pick maybe 5 pictures per year together - it shows passage of time.... a few more from your wedding, and a few more with your child, and it should be good! try and choose the ones where other members of family are present and write who they are (either on the back, or if you put them on a word document for example before you print the, add a caption explaining when, who where...).
Good luck,
Sweden

We got all the pics we wanted to include into a Word document, and just printed them out on regular paper. Did 2 photos per page, with captions underneath each one explaining what the pic was, who was in its etc etc.

we attached around 40 photos but we chose those where they can see our transformations through the years together so it's obvious how long we are together and proving our relationship is real.

We have attached around 15-20 pictures, and have not received any request to provide additional information regarding the genuineness of our application. I have applied spouse in Canada class.

Excatly that's a good approach. I have photoshop elements 8.0. I used the option collage to paste two pictures in 8.5" x 11" paper. Also most of the photos wo't fit in correctly, it can be cropped right away. I added a descrptive text to each photos. And printed in thin photographic papers. The results were very impressive

I sent in probably 10-15 photos all labelled and captioned to explain each photo. I didn't have to attend any interview except for landing.
