I've been getting a little confused about how many photos we need to submit when applying through the outland process through Buffalo. The guide says "Supply four (4) recent photos for each member of your family and yourself." We have 4 photos, but I keep reading of people submitting many more than that.

Also, the 4 pictures are stamped with photographer and date the photos were taken. Is this a problem? Does anything need to go on the back of the photo? I've read that for additional family members there are specifics about the photos, but I can't see anything about the primary applicant.

It is 4 pictures for your region.. as for the photographer stamp I'm not sure about it I specifically asked for no stamp as I figured they would be annoyed.. there is a part about ink marks but I'm not sure if that entails the front or the back..
You have to write the Name and Date of Birth and the date it was taken on the back of ONE photo

Please see:
Photos: Ask a photographer to provide you with a set of photos of yourself and each of your family members included in your application, whether they will be accompanying you or not. The required number of photos for each individual is indicated at Appendix A, under PHOTOS. Photos must comply with specifications given at Appendix B , Photo Specifications. Make sure you give a copy of these specifications to the photographer.
On the back of one photo (and only one) in each set, write the name and date of birth of the person appearing in the photo as well as the date the photo was taken.
Enclose each set of photos in separate envelopes. Write the family member’s name, date of birth and relationship to you on the corresponding envelope and close the envelope with a paper clip.
Photos must not be stapled, scratched, bent or bear any ink marks.

And not to confuse the OP but he/she will also need additional photos for the medical portion of the application that they must submit to the physician, at the time of the medical.] (Perhaps this is why they think they will require more photos.)

That instruction (regarding medicals and the required photos) is included in Part 3, relevant to the region of the applicant. As my spouse is from from Egypt, ours was appendix C I believe.

Thanks for your responses, they were helpful.

Does anyone know whether all 4 photos being stamped with the photographer and the date will be an issue? I'll make sure we write the name and date of birth on one, only, but now wondering if we need the photos re-taken?
