I've been reading over the posts on this forum for the past few weeks as I've just started filling out the forms for sponsoring my Japanese wife. I'm living with her in Japan along with our 1-year old daughter who has a Canadian citizenship card. I was planning on getting a Canadian passport for my daughter soon. On the checklist for travel documents and passports, it says a "photocopy of passport/s or travel document/s of yourself (principal applicant) and your accompanying family members must be submitted". Does this mean that even though my daughter and I will be entering Canada on our Canadian passports, we need to send a photocopy of our bio-data pages as well? (If it is the case, since they require the passport to be valid for 18-months, I would need to renew my passport. :( )

Thanks for any info on this. :)

Being you are Canadian citizen and sponsor, you are not an accompanying family member. The 18 month passport validity is not a applicable for you.

The principal applicant would be your wife who is being sponsored by you.

You should submit copies of all documents as per the checklist.
