Does the PhD research work consider as a full time work when applying for express entry?
If you had a work title, you worked either full-time or part-time, you performed the duties specific to the NOC you listed, you were paid by the employer you were doing research for (your educational institution), then YES!

Do take note if you are a full/part time PhD student counting the research work for EE, it is not eligible, be it paid or unpaid, or via other means eg sponsorhip, scholarships. This is strictly doctorate level education.

Research/Teaching Assistant can be considered, provided you teach/conduct research in collaboration with your thesis supervisor outside the PhD.

Thank you for the insight. So if I understood you correctly, if one has a paid Graduate/Teaching Assistant job outside of the PhD research work (while being a full/part time student), that is eligible?

It is not a definitive yes but can be considered depending on various factors, eg how closely you match the following job description

http://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p3VD.pl?Function=getVD&TVD=122372&CVD=122376&CPV=4012&CST=01012011&CLV=4&MLV=4

The final decision lies with the IRCC officer.

Thanks much. Any idea at what point do they check for work related eligibility? It's been two months since AOR, my BG check has been in IP2 for a month and the eligibility is still under review. I'd appreciate any clues you got.
