PhD project cancelled after admission

I have gotten an admission and confirmed my acceptance. Later on, my PhD supervisor told me that the project - I was supposed to work on - was cancelled. I need a new admission to apply for study permit. However, the university rejected to provide me with the new admission. Can you please provide your suggestions and advises?
Thank you.

What do you mean the project is canceled? If the supervisor no longer wants to take you in then he/she should be straightforward about that. Having supervisor's support is key to having admission or even getting offered another admission.

You need to find a new PhD program.

It's the Canadian way of saying "Your application has been withdrawn"

Thank you for your answers. Do you think it is wise to ask the admission office to offer an admission for a master program instead of PhD?

I think this could be due to pandemic, the school itself cuts off the funding for research leading to cancellation of project. Your school is absolute insane --- Just curious which school did you get accepted too? --- You could sue them because the admission/acceptance letter was already issued and you already accepted. Regardless of project's, it is a claiming denial of education.

Thank you for your reply. In fact, I spent a lot of effort and money to apply for visa twice. In addition, I lost another chance in another European university.
Can you please tell me how to sue them. Should I ask attorney to submit a lawsuit, for example?

Likely pointless to sue. Due to covid many schools and businesses are losing funding and have to cancel or lay off people. Without a supervisor you can’t do your PhD. Extra money to pay you isn’t going to suddenly appear. The situation is certainly regrettable but I am sure the department is hurting as well due to the loss of whatever funding they were counting on and are having to make adjustments.
