Good day everyone,

Just had a question, can I work after applying for pgwp? I intially applied for my pgwp and forgot to pay/apply for restoration as a student(study permit expired before I could apply for pgwp). I just paid 14 days after sending my pgwp application and sent a receipt through the webform to cic so it can be added to my application.

I just wanted to know if this will affect my application as I already sent in my pgwp before paying for restoration?
and
can I work given I have applied for pgwp and study permit restoration?

thanks in advance!

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1181 ( I saw this on the cic website that says you can work while waiting on your pgwp as far as you have had a valid study permit) I just want to be 100% sure.

This sounds like a situation I was just in. If your study permit was still valid when they received your application for PGWP you are good to go. If your study permit already expired when they received your application you have no status and you are not allowed to work. I hope number one is the case for you. Even if not there might be ways to make it possible for you to stay. I spent 210CAD on an hour consultation with an immigration lawyer and it was the best money I spent in years.

Oh alright unfortunately I won’t be able to work because I applied after my permit expired. How long did it take for your application to get approved?

I applied for PR through spousal sponsorship and also for a work permit. Have not received either and the only reason why I can stay is because I am married to a canadian citizen. I currently can not work. I would consult with an immigration lawyer. You will have all the answers you need and don't have to research the web. and also your worries will be taken care of.

Hey I’m in the same situation as you. I applied student permit restoration + pgwp about a month ago, submitted the proof of payment via web form moment later. I asked a consultant from my school and they said this is not ideal + may take some time for the system to attach it to the application but it should be fine. As long as you are eligible to PGWP, there’s nothing to worry about at this time.
For the processing time, you can check the main post for PGWP. People post their timeline there. The latest approval for now is June 14.

Post is from 2021. What is your situation?
The same situation, I have applied for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after my study permit expired and forgot to pay the student restoration status. Can restore my status now then update my pgwp application with my restoration receipt

When did your study permit expire? When did you apply for PGWP? Assume you are not working. You can try and pay to restore status but depends on if PGWP application is being assessed now. What about withdrawing and reapplying for restoration

So you have been without status for almost 2 months. Does your file have a status update? You are going to need professional advice on this. The issue is that the site says:

If you want to change your permit and restore your status
If your permit and status have expired, you must restore your initial permit and status first. After that, you can apply for a different permit.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/restore.html

So you had to restore first then apply.

Yes, it's already been two months but I think I'm still on time because it's 90 day after my sp expired. There is no status update on my file but I can attach the restoration receipt on my application using the webform. Not knowing if it will work or not

I cannot tell you if it will work since the link states that you must restore status first. Restore status but seek professional advice from an immigration lawyer.
