my passport will expiry in February 2025 and i have work permit till February 2025 but now I have renewed my passport and applied for work permit extension. it has been 4 months but I haven't got any update yet. did any one facing the same issue?

PGWP extension due to passport expiry is a paper application. Hopefully IRCC review and approves it.

Hi,

My Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is set to expire in June 2025. Due to my passport's earlier expiry, I missed approximately 10 months of my work permit duration.

If I apply today for an extension to reclaim the missed time, will the additional 10 months be counted from the date I submit my application or from the date the visa officer approves it?

Mine was added after the date of initial PGWP expiry. Overall total pf PGWP length was three years (2 years initial plus 1 yr extension after passport renewal).

Current timeline is 170 days so may be i will be out of status for a month or two before decision.

So can you work after May 2025? As your Work Permit expires along with SIN, Credit card etc.. How can we manage those? How people manage to apply online?

Finally received my work permit extension.
My permit was expired on 6th July 2024
I applied for my extension on 20th June 2024
Got my application number on September but was only able to link it by October.
Got my approval on 5th December 2024 after almost 6 months.
People who have applied by paper and are out of status, please don’t worry. You will eventually receive it but kindly don’t waste your time not building up work experience for your PR. I understand it’s a hassle to convince your employer when you go out of status as you don’t get an implied status letter from IRCC but indeed you are on implied status but since it was a paper application, IRCC won’t provide any information proving it. AND DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY or you’ll be stuck until your work permit gets delivered to your address in Canada and you’ll have to ask someone to courier it to you so you can prove the authorities that you’ve received your work permit once you land back in Canada (just too much hassle).

Hi,

I am considering when to apply for my Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) extension. If I apply a few months before the expiry, the new work permit may start from the approval date. However, if I apply just a few days before expiry, I will be on implied status and can continue working while awaiting approval.

Could you please advise on the best timing to apply to maximize the validity of my work permit?

Hey guys, I applied to renew my work permit under a bridging work permit while i waited fro my PR to be confirmed. At the time, I had two valid work permits, one due to expire on the 19th of september 2024, but the initial one I received was due to expire on the 11th of October, 2024. Based on this, i applied for the bridging work permit on 8th of october 2024.

I received my PR and I am currently in the confirmation phase waiting for my photo and address to be reviewed, but today i just got my work permit extension rejected because they used the september 19th date and not the october 11th date. What do i do? I literally have a work permit that says it expires October 11th and my rejection letter says that my status expired 19th September. Surely that is not right.
