Can you apply visitor if you get out of status l?
You can apply but it will very likely be refused too. Once again, you need to focus on PR pathway and not get caught up in making desperate attempts to stay just so you can stay. I mean if you just want to stay, you don't need to apply for anything, just stay without status. Canada rarely removes undocumented people..

No, that’s not the case. I want to work and get PR.

Then you need to play by the rules and find the right pathway to PR. The last thing you want on your immigration file is a removal order and sadly all your quick fixes are pointing to that.

I’m already in the process of getting a LMIA but I am not sure when are they going to resume the draws. Are there any possibility for CEC draw?

@scylla @Naturgrl hi, i have a question regarding the pgwp extension and different scenarios since i can’t understand from the website:
- working for an employer in quebec, canada with a pgwp
- pgwp expires oct 2025
- will apply for PR in may/june 2025, which leaves 3-4 months for ITA
- how do i continue to work in canada if i have not received an ITA by the time to apply for a BOWP?
- to apply for a BOWP, I need to ask my employer to do LMIA? how long is that process
- are there any methods to continue working in canada after my PR application but while my permit is expiring?

BOWP does not require LMIA if application is made while existing work permit is valid.

can i apply for bowp if i have a pgwp and am working inside canada with the pgwp expiring? and if i have not received an ITA yet. My understanding was that you can only apply for BOWP if you have received an ITA.

You need ITA and AOR to apply for BOWP.

That is correct, BOWP is only available post ITA. If your PGWP is close to expiration and you don't have ITA, you need a closed work permit which requires LMIA. It can be a fairly long process and approval will depend on a lot of factors as new changes are now in place for LMIA.

The other option is to apply for an extension while not qualifying just to buy some time and keep working. Although there are no current repercussions to this, it could change soon and given the new heavy handed approach of liberal govt it would probably be significant.

Have your employer obtain an approved LMIA and apply for a closed work permit.

so there are no options to extend my pgwp without an ITA? i would rather not risk applying without qualifying as that will hurt my chances of the PR. how long is an LMIA process generally?

Is your employer eligible? 6-7 months for processing but that doesn’t include recruitment process for posting your job and interviewing.

if my employer does not agree to do that, would i have to leave canada?

alternatively, if i get an ITA in that time and apply or BOWP, and then my work permit
