PGWP 2024 - No updates - What is the next step?

Hello All,

I need help in the critical situation of my brother.

He applied to PWGP on 12 May, 2024. He got confirmation letter after applying the application which states that he is authorized to work until November 8, 2024 till he gets his work permit approval. so he is on applied status at the moment.

He still have not got any update yet on his application. He called IRCC twice and raised couple of webforms as well. No help yet. Last time over call, agent said that his will put request on his application. But still no updates on his application.

He also has his marriage on 18 Nov so he booked flight to India on 8th Nov. I have following questions:

1. What if he does not get any update by 8th November, 2024? Does he need to leave country? what would be his status after that?

2. If he goes to India on 8th Nov without getting his work permit, and later stage he receives hi work permit, can someone bring his work permit paper to India? is that fine?

Appreciate your help. Any other idea or guidance will be helpful.

The bigger issue is TRV, you won't be able to return to Canada without a valid one.

TRV can be stamped at his HOME country India as well if he gets work permit. so main question is about his status.

The current WP processing time in Canada is 128 days on average. The processing time for TRV from India is 102 days on average. It's very likely the work permit will be approved before return date but you can't travel based on permit. You'll still have to apply for TRV which can take a few months so essentially you're stuck while time on your PGWP is gonna keep running. Best option is to not travel until a WP and TRV has been received.

There are several people on this forum who are stuck waiting for TRV outside Canada even though they have a valid work or study permit.

Really thank you so much for giving me insight about TRV timeline. Now he has stuck completely. He has marriage on Nov month and planned it based on PGWP applied on May that enough time is there to get this work permit and TRV to be done.

No updates yet, not sure what is going on. Each time he calls IRCC they say its in progress and assigned to officer. Ridiculous system.

I also applied for my PGWP on May 12,2024 but still there is no update.
Even ircc agents are not available on the call.

inside W.P(s) most of it are taking 6.5-8months; it does no change calling IRCC or emailing them.
Enjoy the time u have on maintain status gather work exp. longer the processing it is good [all counts to CEC - if on eligible job]

You are right.. but as per his PGWP application confirmation, he is authorized to work until November 8, 2024 . It's already passed. Should he be still consider himself in maintain status? Just because decision has not come yet.

nothng to do . ur AOR is deemed auth. to continue to work.. and deemed maintained satus
