Wait for others to confirm because I haven't look at IMM 1344 for PGP 2020.

I think there are other forms for the principal applicant to sign but not this one.

yeah, there are other forms where the principal applicant has to sign. But the principal applicant has to sign in IMM1344 too.

You can't check, not yet at least. The tracking tool will go live once all the invitations are sent.

Certainly an option if you are a US citizen and can afford the very high health insurance costs. You're right - no wait times.

i'm highly skeptical of this cbc news article stating that the draw is open for 10 business days i'm not sure where they're getting that number from when the government website clearly states that invites will be sent this week.

well, the IRCC website just mentioned "... in several days" which could be understood as a week or as a 10-day! You guess!

No news yet, honestly speaking I am disappointed in the system. I have filed around 100k in taxes in 3 years combined. I am an essential worker and worked non stop during pandemic, my dad passed away in May and couldn't even visit him in his last days. 10days after my granddad passed away, and obviously due to no fly rules and since I am a essential worker, couldn't be for him either.
Finally in Oct when they starting taking applications, I applied for my 88 year grandmother who is living on her own in India.
But obviously the country doesn't care enough for our parents. I see many people not working and getting paid good amount from government but I can't even get my 1 dependent grandparent over? What am I paying taxes for?

3 years is a very small amount of time. There are plenty of others who have made 100k for 6 years who still haven’t been selected. Parent sponsorship was never guaranteed and especially after only 3 years. There have been some rare lucky people who got selected after 3 years but the large majority have 5-10 years of meeting LICO before they get selected. Would add that 3 years of taxes will not cover much care for seniors in addition to your own needs. If you have a family your taxes cover things like their schooling and their healthcare.

Most people will likely not have their parents move to the US if their healthcare cost are astronomical. They’ll be purchasing on the open market. The big draw with sponsoring parents in Canada is the free healthcare.

Hi there! Happy 2021!
I’m a 2019 sponsor and I can share how I increased my chance of getting the spot.

First of all, I upgraded my internet to be the faster option, then I connected my computers using Ethernet chord, since WiFi are slower with the usual router. Then I had two computers ready to make sure if there is technical glitch at one computer, the other one would still work. This turned out to be a great decision since I ended up only able to open the page with the back up computer.

I also downloaded the interest to sponsor 2018 form to practice typing up the infomation that they needed on the form. And had all the required documents ready in the most accessible folder.

I ended up submitting the form within 3min and was still able to access the form till the 6th min.

However, I agree that the 2019 method is not fair for people with barriers, as they may not be able to type or comprehend as fast.

The whole issue is that those who are not tech savvy and not in an urban location were disadvantaged on top of anyone who may have had some sort of disability. I have a strong suspicion that there were quite a few IT workers working in the biggest Canadian cities that got selected In 2019.

EE style will favor those who have jobs. Those who have money. Those who have skills.

Which "is not fair". Pretty crazy. But it is how it is.

Disabled or handicapped or people with medical conditions will feel that the system works against them and that is certainly not fair to them.

Hence the total random lottery system is the solution.

Children having money doesn’t mean that parents will cost the Canadian government less. I have seen many with income not wanting to care for their parents at home while those without money taking care of their family at home saving the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. Children in Canada having money does not necessarily mean that the parents will be less of a cost to the Canadian government.
