Since the application has to go 10 years back, we were at a stage when we were still in the first years of college. Should we add internships that were performed during that time? Internships were done in the summer between the bachelor and masters for example and would fill the gap in the personal history.
I've been also freelancing for 3 years but I am not registered "officially" and didn't need to claim points as I had already worked for 3+ years as an employee full time. Should I add this period as unemployed?

My wife has freelance work and added it to her personal history

Did she list ALL her clients? I was working in social media and web development, some with agencies some with direct clients. Should I list them individually? What about jobs done on sites like upwork and so, should I add that as well? What do you think?

No she mentioned self employed as the name of the employer.

so working on websites like upwork is considered as self employed? I have been freelancing on upwork since 2013 as a writer. Can I be the principal applicant for the express entry since the NOC comes under the A category.

Is this your only job or do you freelance along with a full-time job?

If freelancing is your only job, you can request your clients to write a reference letter on their company letterhead. For proof of income, you can show your invoices and bank deposits made by your clients.

Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I freelance full time through Upwork.com so am I suppose to check the Self employed option?

Self employed is a tricky option to choose, I think. You'll be expected to produce proof like registration of services, income tax documents etc.

I'm afraid I'm not an expert on these matters. Hopefully someone else who knows these things better than me will be able to guide you better. Why don't you try and find a relevant thread on this forum for self employed applicants? You'll get more information and tips there.

Good luck.

Do you not have full time experience? I've been freelancing for 4 years but put that in personal history and added actual full time work experience to work history. I also explained it in LOE that as a freelancer I've had several "employers" and so listed them all under one field in work history.
I did that to avoid the exact issue mentioned by WanderingMind, to avoid the extra documents that might arise.

Edit: Just realized I'm the OP :) So basically that's what I ended up doing ^^^

Hello all,

just wanted to ask, did IRCC ask for proofs on Freelancing (personal history) part like payment and all?, if the freelancing years do not fall in the required 3 years of work experience.
