Hi

Currently I am in USA and from India. I was asked by Canadian embassy for bank statement for 12 months and also to show me personal assets. I do not know exactly, what can be shown as personal assets. Can I show my spouse personal assets and who is not principal applicant. kindly advice.

Thanks
Sam

Of course, your spouse's assets are your combined assets and can be shown provided she is part of your application, including her personal accounts and all your joint accounts.
A personal asset is something of value which belongs to you, and if married, your spouse. A classic example of a personal asset would be your home, however personal assets can take a wide definition e.g, your financial accounts, like savings, checking, life insurance policies, which have a cash value, and pension accounts are all personal assets, even if they are not directly accessible.
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for reply. Can someone please tell me what can be defined as accessible asset.

Thanks
Sam

In this instance he means that the funds are not liquid - like cash in a bank account. They are easy to access if you need money. Examples of funds that are not accessible would be pension which you cannot have until you reach the required age.

Apart from cash,Mutual funds, shares, fixed deposits are part of accessible assets
