Hello everyone :)

First of all, sorry if the question asked before but I saw a lot of posts and discussions that are related to bill C-24 but I just couldn't find the right answer for myself.

I have been living in Canada since 2010 and received my permanent resident card in February 2014, as most of you know bill C-24 passed and became law in June 2014 by the Conservative Party of Canada.

My question is that; if I want to apply for the citizenship, do I have to complete 1.460 days or 1.096 days in Canada?

Thank you in advance and i hope, that was clear enough...

If the C6 (the new bill that will revoke the C24) receives Royal assent and becomes effective today (this is just a hypothesis), you can apply anytime now. (you have one year pre-PR and two years after Feb 2014 assuming you meet the other criteria as well like Tax filing and others). If C6 doesn't pass through, you will be eligible in Feb 2018 (assuming you didn't leave Canada since Feb 2014; else you have to add the days you spent outside Canada; also be aware of the other restrictions related to the number of resident days per year).

On a side note, C6 is currently referred to committee, under the senate, and will be discussed around beginning of next month. there might be some amendments introduced which would force the bill to go back to HoC *house of commons) adding some delays until it reaches the final stage. Also once approved, it might not be enforced immediately. In a nutshell, literally no one knows which this bill becomes a law. Don't listen to anyone who pretends to know when this bill will be approved (even the minister doesn't know). It will happen when it's time to happen. Have a great day!

It doesn't matter when you became a PR. All that matters is which citizenship rule is in place when you actually apply for citizenship. So right now you apply under bill c-24.
