Hi

just to see if someone can help me!

My bf (canadian) is sponsoring me (us resident) and in the CIC approved him as my sponsor. that process for them to approve him as the sponsor took like 1 month.

They sent all the papers to the Embassy in Buffalo for final processing.

just wanted to know what do they exactly do with my papers overthere??

I enter almost everyday to the CIC website but it says that they are still working on my permanent resident papers.

Until now they had not call us for an interview.. is there any chance they will not call us??

Im planning to visit him on august.. can i visit him no matter that they had not finish with my PR?

Thanks for any help.

Blessing!

It can take a few months for them to process. You can visit him while you wait.

Thanks for your response!

One last question.... they started processing my PR on March 18, 2009 you think that if they had not send us a letter that they want to interview us at this point you think they will not?? or that is obligatory for every PR case??

Thanks!

They do not ask for an interview in every case. They will let you know.

Buffalo is currently finalizing applications in 4-9 months - so the fact that your ap has been in process now for over 3 months with no request yet for an interview is a good sign. Have you received anything from them other than the Acknowledgement of Receipt with your file number on it? We received a request for additional documents a few weeks after they received our application and it said right on it that it "appeared" an interview would not be required. At the time I was so caught up in looking at what they wanted us to send that I completely missed the part about the interview . . . but my impression was that they "assess" that part pretty early on in the processing.

As far as visiting while you're waiting - just be sure that you have proof of your intent to return to the States at the end of your visit when you approach the border for entry. They may or may not have information in the system that you have a PR ap in process, and if they want to be hard-nosed about it they could say that you've indicated your intention (by filing a PR ap) to stay in Canada permanently - which means you can't prove your intent to stay temporarily, and they can refuse you entry. So bring proof that you have a job to go back to, and/or a property lease or rental agreement (or mortgage/title), current utility bills, etc., and return trip itinerary.

Rob I never heard when they send a letter to the applicant requestiong for additional documents they mentioned about not requiring an interview. My husband received a letter for additional documents but nothing was mentioned about the interview.
Perhaps each visa office operate differently.

Basically ours was a form letter, received from Buffalo, that said the "initial assessment" of our application had been completed and it appeared the need for an interview would be waived, but that additional documents and information was required - and then they checked off some boxes and wrote in some information about what they wanted us to send to them.

do you think it can be enough to prove? we gave them all the required info a few months ago and still were refused.

You are very lucky!!! because they had asked us for additional documents and requested to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee of $490 on my behalf in Canada which I already paid so i don't know if it's a good sign to not have to go through an interview.
Good luck to you!!!

Suin they refused you on what ground????
we applied to visitor's visa twice in a row and second time I gave them all the proof they wanted, but still they said no. they said that they didn't believe that I would return back.

on my comment about kids staying in my country with my mom totally dependent on me, they said that I could easily arrange them to come and stay with me in the US (I was applying thru Detroit, being on visitor's visa in the US)
