Permanent Resident Card for New PRs

My mother just immigrated to Canada. At the port of entry, they didn't ask her for a photo and said that they already have the photo on the landing paper that they kept. Can any body tell me if the PR Card is going to be automatically issued for her or do i have to apply for the initial card for her?

It will be automatically issued.

Also, if you'd like to know how long it takes, the current processing time for first-time PR cards is 46 days.
