Hello all,

I have everything ready to send my PR. I only need to apply payment which got me a bit confused.

I am the only applicant, applying within Canada (common law Canada class) through the sponsorship of my common law who is a canadian citizen by birth and has lived his entire life here. My current status in the country is worker.

Just want to make sure if all I have to pay is Principal applicant($550) and Right of Permanent Residence Fee($490)? Does my common law also has to pay $550, or does this fee refers if somebody else from my family was sponsoring me and common law (as if we both wanted to get PR status)?

Spouse and Common-Law Partner in Canada Class
Principal applicant (including $75 for sponsorship) $550.00
Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00
Family member of the principal applicant who is under 19 years of age, unmarried and not in a common-law relationship OR is 19 years of age or older who has been unable to be financially self-supporting since before the age of 19 due to a physical or mental condition $150.00
Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00

Much appreciated, thanks!

Hello!

First of all, thank you all for your response. I sent my PR yesterday and I couldn't be more relieved.

I just wrote on a separate piece of paper saying we haven't had any ceremony as our background does not celebrate common law unions.
I am Peruvian, so I explained in Peru we celebrate wedding engagements, bridal shower, and wedding.
In the case of my boyfriend, he is Canadian yet his family keeps Greek traditions as his parents are Greek. I explained Greek Canadians celebrate wedding engagements, rings blessing, bridal shower, stag for the groom, bachelorette party, a party one week before the wedding called Kolak and wedding (yes, they are quite the party people).

Just be honest and explain why you would or would not celebrate common law union. All they seek is honesty and truth.

Hope my answer is helpful, let me know if anything else.

If you are planning on getting married in the future, yo ucan also say there's no "common-law celebration" because you will be celebrating the marriage in the future. When I applied we were CL but engaged, so we just wrote that!

As has been said, just be honest, and you should be fine.
