I am trying to get a PCC from Sweden and the police agency will not accept credit card or check payments. They only accept wire transfer into their SWEDBANK account.

The problem is it costs a lot of money to do this wire transfer.

Amount to be sent: USD $35
Bank of America Fee: USD $35
Fee charged by recipient bank: USD$68

So for sending $35, I need to pay $138. That sounds like theft. I have tried Western Union but their system doesn't accept the International Bank Account Numbers.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you ask a friend to pay it from within Sweden and then reimburse him/her by cheque?

Yes, I tried that option also. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck on that front.

I wish they would accept credit card payments. That would be the simplest solution.

Do you know anyone who lives in the European Union? You can transfer money within the European Union for free, from any bank account to any bank account. All you need is the IBAN (International Bank Account Number). You don't need a Swedish bank account.

So if you have a friend in Germany, Italy, Poland, UK, whatever, they could transfer the money to their account and when you see them the next time, you give them the money.

I would offer to help out (I have a German bank account), but obviously you shouldn't trust strangers on the internet :-)

I do have two friends in Sweden, but I haven't had a positive response from either. Sometimes strangers work out better than friends. I may have to take you up on that.
