Hi,

I am currently in USA and submitted my PR documents last week.

I stayed in USA more than one year. So I need to provide PCC from USA and India.
Processing times for getting PCC from USA normally takes around 16 and 18 weeks.

Can I apply for PCC from USA now as it takes around 16 weeks?

Hi Ganesh,

Could you please help me guide as to how are you obtained the PCC while you're in US for USA and India. You help is much appreciated. I need to get one done for my wife who is currently in USA on H1B for more than a year.

USA PCC, has to be obtained from the FBI - just google FBI fingerprinting ...and you will have to get all the details.
In short, you can get your fingerprintes taken at the local police office and then mail it to the FBI, who will send you your PCC.

India PCC can be obtained from your nearest Indian Embassy, On the Indian Embassy webpage, you will find all required forms.

Hi - Yes, I went to local police station and the local police took the finger print. You need to take address proof (just driving license is sufficient) when you go there.

Let me know if you need any specific information.

Hi,
I've submitted my finger prints and application on June 17,2014(received by FBI officer). My credit card is not charged till now.
how long does FBI take to respond back? Do they give details on why they couldn't provide clearance certificate etc.....

Response is much appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't know if this helps you, but i used to live in USA also and i applied for PCC from the FBI. It took them almost 4 weeks to charge my credit card from the time they OPENED my application and another 2 weeks until it was mailed out. It was mailed out 2 days ago, so i am expecting it soon.

Also, just because they receive your application does not mean they will open it and start processing right away. They usually have 2 weeks of backlog

Also, i was able to find out that its been mailed by calling the FBI CJIS Customer Service Group at 304-625-5590. They can usually give you progress details if its already been a few weeks.
