Has anyone ever tried to pay Immigration by Western Union? I am really stuck as I have 1000.00 on my credit card and cannot get any more so I have to pay the last $100 by cash and the only way is to go thru Western Union. But the official receipt I requested from Immigration requires a "branch stamp". Not sure if my local Western Union agent will have any such stamp. I just wondered if anyone has had success doing it this route? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hi andy, if you have a credit card, why don't you pay CIC online? That is the fastest and easiest way. Or if not you can do it at a bank; that is the "branch stamp" the CIC receipt is referring to. I do not think CIC will accept payment any other way. Generally most credit cards will allow you to go over the limit on a single charge, they will simply "ding" you with an over-limit charge (usually $25.00) on your next bill. It should work if you pay the whole fee online. Good luck!

you could get a prepaid visa from western union and load it up with whatever amount.
your bank should also give you a prepaid visa option too.

Why don't you put the extra money on your creditcard. So that your credit is higher. Then you pay CIC with your creditcard and is Western Union not needed.

Thx for the suggestions, I think the prepaid visa sounds like a good idea. I asked my credit card company about paying a hundred dollars so my balance would be enough to make the payment but they told me I can't do that, they've been real sticklers and have blocked every idea I've had. I'll look into the prepaid route. Thanks all but if anyone has ever paid the fee by Western Union pls let me know

Hi andy, I do not believe CIC accepts payments other than the ways listed above. Why don't you call CIC on Monday morning to confirm, then you will have your question answered.

Their website says you can pay online or at a financial institution such as a bank or Western Union. I didn't think I could call them, you know anytime you try to call a government office it seems like you run around in circles! But I can try. Thanks.

You can call CIC if you are in Canada

Hi all, thanks for the replies and suggestions. For anyone's interest, even tho on CIC's website it says that you can pay at any financial insitution such as banks, credit unions, or western union, I did call them and they said you can't pay via western union. WU does offer a prepaid credit card option which would work, but my issue was that I don't have the cash on hand to buy a prepaid credit card and the credit card that I have has 1000.00 limit. Just $40 shy of the total cost of application!!! ARGHH!. Anyway I am paying down my other credit card slowly and will just have to wait to apply.

This 1000,00 limit, is it monthly or what? If that's the case, what you could do is:
1. Last day of the month, pay everything except the Right of Permanent Residence. Sponsorship 75$ plus principal applicant 475$.
2. Next day (which would be a new month basically), pay the RPRF of 490$.

Or you could pay the 75 + 475 $ with your card, and ask a family member or close friend to help you pay for the 490$ RPRF with his/her credit card. It doesn't have to be in your name, by the way, as long as you have the receipt. And you can pay all online.

Or, pay only the sponsorship fee which is mandatory when you send the application. The Right of Permanent Residence Fee can be paid at a later date, CIC will ask you for it.

There's no such thing as a monthly limit. 1000 is the limit.

andyloonz - just pay the processing fees as soon as you can - 475+75 - so that you can send in your application. Then, when you have 490, just pay the RPRF, even if the VO has not yet asked for it - then send the receipt to CPC Miss. and notify the VO by email.
