I have been in Canada for a year now and am currently studying in a private college as it was not informed by my consultant about the same back home. I am facing issues regarding pathways to apply for PR. what would be the best way to increase my points and apply for PR? any suggestions ?

If I complete the college and then go to public college for a year would that help
You should take at least a two year program at at public college so that you qualify for a three year PGWP. It's generally difficult to get PR with only a 1 year PGWP.
