Hello,

Did you need a visa to travel to the US side?

Thanks!
It was already mentioned in this part where they said they had US visas, but the US border officer told them they didn't have to use them.

So I greeted him politely and told him we came to do Canadian landing. He said, he will give us a flagpole paper. I told him my friend and I both have US visas so we don’t need the flagpole, we just want to cross and reenter . He assured us flagpole is much faster and it won’t go on our record.
If you're flagpoling they will allow you to do it without a US visa.

Hello everyone, I got my passport back on June 10th and landed June 11th.
The landing process was pretty straightforward. One thing to note is that after I got in the border office, I saw another person who was doing landing got questioned why he didn't bring the work permit with him.

Then when I was doing mine, the Canadian border officer did take my open work permit away.

So better be prepared! Stay calm.

Cheers!!

A small progress on my application:
PPR on 19th May
Sent my passport on 26th May
Received by Ottawa office on 30th.
-
Today, my application status changed to closed and Final decision says that the application has been approved.
However, tracker has not been activated yet.
-
Any idea when I should be expecting my PP or, tracker to be active

Update:
The passport return tracker has been activated. So, waiting for it to reach my hand anxiously. It appears like they posted it from Ottawa yesterday (8th June)

Finally, got my passport. Planning on completing the landing process on Sunday. Thanks for all the input guys
Received my passport on 10th June and completed landing process on 12th June at Osooys, BC. I wanted to avoid Vancouver (although its closer) since Osooys is not nearly as crowded as Vancouver.
The Immigration officer was super nice and asked for no documents or for any proof - although I had all the documents that I submitted to CIC on me. The whole process (including US) took no more than 30 minutes.

Again, my suggestion for Landing process is to carry all the documents you have.

Hello Friends,

I have question for the members who have done landing recently.

1 What happens to your existing work permit when you complete Landing?
2. Can we travel out of Canada back to USA after completing landing process and re-enter Canada after 2 weeks?

I think immigration office at the port of entry cancel out all of your active visitor visas or work permits and issue a Temp. PR papers and we get actual PR card after some time. we can travel out of Canada to USA as long as we have valid USA Visa, but there might be problem going back to Canada since getting actual PR card at your Canadian address takes 2 to 3 months.

Please share your experience or view points.

Thanks

You will not have any problem, if your using Private vehicle (CAR) for the travel

1. they take away your existing work permit when you complete landing
2. yes you can travel to US after completing landing and come back and re-enter Canada on your COPR BUT ONLY FROM BOARDER. because the airline will not let you board on your COPR.

Yes immigration officers Cancel all the active visitor visas and permits. But in my case the officer only cancelled my Immigration Visa, but he did not cancel my worker visa TRV and he said i can travel on this visa( although i am not sure if the officer was correct)

Hello Vinodram & FRENDZ,

Thanks a lot for your response! It was confused looking at reply from VinodRam but now very clear looking at reply from Frendz.
Sounds silly question but what is COPR? Is it a temp. Paper PR document that immigration officer gives when you complete landing?

Thanks

No question is silly. Nobody Knows everything but everybody knows something.
COPR is Confirmation of Permanent Residence. It is a set of two same papers one with photo other without. CIC sends that these along with your immigration visa on the passport.
when you land, the officer keeps one with the photo and give you the other without photo.
Until you get your PR CARD, COPR is the proof of your permanent residence.
keep the COPR safe place when your get your PR card, you might need it later for citizenship process.

Post a final update here since the landing was completed yesterday.

PPR: May 30th, 2016
Passport sent to CPC ottawa: May 31st, 2016 and was received on June 2nd, 2016
Application approved on mycic: June 9th, 2016
Passport sent back and received: June 13th, 2016.
Landing at Rainbow bridge, Niagara fall: June 15th, 2016.

The whole process was extremely easy, we parked our car at the casino right across the border and took a nice walk on the bridge to US border first, the US officer asked rightaway if we're here for Canada landing, despite we had and presented our valid US visa, he still gave us a flagpole paper it was extremely quick and directed our way back. Upon entering Canada's side, first we're greeted by a CBSA officer taking down custom yellow sheet, then were sent to the big building next to it and waited for about half an hour, it's a wednesday noon so not many ppl r there then we heard our names being called. Came to the counter and met a very friendly officer who asked us some standard questions and then to sign our CoPR paper.
After that let us wait on the side for a bit until called our names again, handed bk our passport now with stapled CoPR on it and announced "Congratulations, you are now officially a permanent residence of Canada" :) , and also our duty to stay 2 in every 5 years to keep the status. I prepared almost every document when applied for PR but he didn't ask for any to my surprise. My first time in Canada was a summer 2008, stayed since then and it is such a relief to finally be settled down here after 8 years of study and work plus a rejection on my EE application which gave me nightmares bk in February. But the 2nd try is really fast and smooth.
Best luck to all the members who're coming or already in Canada, may the bright future all come to you ! Cheers

Yup, maybe u don't remember any more but I pmed u bk in February when my application was rejected and don't know what to do next. U gave me the hope to email pnp office again and request for nomination transfer. Also our noc code is also the same.
Funny thing is I ended up getting PPR earlier than you do.
