Just got my passport back like 15 minutes ago ;D ;D

Here's the recent timeline:

Received PPR: 5th April 2016
Sent passport: 8th April 2016
Delivered at Ottawa: 11th April 2016
Passport sent to be back: 12th April 2016
Received passport back: 13th April 2016

SUPER QUICK !! :D

I have one question though. The visa they gave me doesn't show my picture on it. Instead, when I opened the FedEx envelope, my passport was open on the page where the Canadian visa was printed, and in front of it was one of the two pictures I sent to Ottawa in the first place. The picture wasn't stuck to passport, it was just placed in front of it. Does this mean anything, like do I have to present that picture at the border or something ? Or maybe they forgot to attach the picture in a hurry ?

u r good for now. No picture will be attached to Passport.

The one with the picture (CoPR) is a CIC copy and other without picture is your self copy... both should be signed in front of the officer... he will keep the copy with the Photo

I think u need to take
- passport
- 2 CoPR
- Funds
- Proof of status (WP etc)

But then why did CIC ask me to send them two passport photos when they only needed one ? They sent the other photo back to me as i mentioned earlier.

Also, isn't the visa they stamped for me enough to get me into Canada ? Why do I need to take any proof of status document ?

Regarding the photos, I am not sure. My thought was... they would have kept one photo at CIC with ur PR application (to print on the PR card)... other photo on the CoPR may be as a proof...

if u see... the photo with ur name and BOD (back side of the photo) is attached to CoPR...

Regarding the Documents.... see those 2 links

CIC asks for two photographs and out of which one has to have the name of the photographer and date behind it. When you write behind a photograph, sometimes a scanner pics the writing too. So to be on the safer side, CIC requests for two pictures. If one of your photographs is rejected, they can use the second one, or else you can keep waiting for them to ask and then send another one, which will delay the whole process by another month or two. They used one, and the one they did not need, was sent back. Make sure you carry it with you when you land. For most applicants no photograph is required, but it is always good to be prepared.

The visa they stamped is enough to enter, however the COPR is your actual proof of landing (and your permanent resident record), which differentiates you from a non-immigrant visiting Canada. Then you land in Canada your you will go over the same protocol which any any other citizen or traveller will go through, i.e. checking your admissibility. Then your visa is checked and an entry with the date is stamped. This proves your date of entry into Canada. The COPR is then signed by you and stamped by the officer, this will continue to be your proof of permanent residency until you receive the PR card. You will need the stamped and signed COPR to apply for SIN, driving license, medical insurance card, and other benefits.

So keep it safe.

@legalFalcon

I always benefit from your information, I have sent both photos with names written on the back. I hope it was not a problem.

The application was approved and closed yesterday, so I would assume that did not cause a problem, correct ?

The return tracker is not yet activated, we have the same timeline, so please let me know if your tracking number was activated.

Thanks again
