Hi All,
Sent my passport via Xpresspost on Friday April 24th
It arrived at Ottawa on Monday April 27th - The tracker still shows “out for delivery”
So I called CanadaPost and the help desk agent mentioned that since CIC is a bulk delivery customer who received about 500/600 pieces of a mail a day it takes a while for the tracker to say “Delivered”. This is because CIC actually comes in to the Canadapost office daily to pick up the bulk mail and the tracker gets updated only after the mailroom clerk at CIC acknowledges that the package was received.
Anyone else been told this story ?
The CanadaPost help desk agent then said that CIC did in fact pick up the day’s mail that day so I should be good. This conversation was on Tuesday April 28th at the end of the business day.
However, I thought I’ll chill till next Tuesday (May 5th) and give CIC a call to confirm the status of the passport, only if the CanadaPost XpressPost tracking number hasn’t been activated by then ofcourse
All the best to all those in the new waiting phase
