Passport Validity Requirment for Study Visa

Hello everyone,

I've just received admission letter for Fall 2013. The maximum duration of my study program is three years, where as my passport has validity of two years (till august 2015). Now I asked Gerry's international about this and they told me that the validity of the passport should be more than the duration of the program.. The Canadian high commission told me to ask this question in email and when i did, they just gave me an abstract answer with a list of links but none containing answer to my question.

Can I apply on this passport for study visa? If yes, then what will be the validity of the visa and how can I later extend it to complete my study program?

I also called the Pakistan passport helpline and they told me that I passports having validity more than 6 months can't be extended/renewed. So I'm stuck. Somebody please help, the clock is ticking.

1. Yes you can apply using that passport.
2. You will only be issued a study permit to the validity of the passport, when in Canada 6 months before it expires, you extend the passport and then apply to extend your study permit.

Any idea about sponsorship undertaking? I'm being sponsored by a family member so what kind of notarized undertaking along with financial statement is required?

only write a letter from your sponsor that he will bear your food , accommodation, fees, etc expenses. Mostly student get it on stamp papers.
