Passport return from consulate, tracking number shows nothing

Hi everyone,

I'm meant to be leaving the country on Saturday and it is now Thursday night. The consulate in NY emailed me yesterday advising me that my passport was sent back using the express mail envelope I provided, and they quoted the tracking number to me (which I had anyways). It didn't arrive today, and the tracking number is not showing that anything was received since yesterday.

Is there a time lag from when the consulate hands the envelope over to when the post actually process it? Its been more than 24 hours now...

I heard that it snows heavily in NY. So maybe there would be some delay. Try to call the carrier (usps?) anyway.

By the way, how long does it take for your passport to be sent back?
