Hi Folks.
Am wondering if someone can guide me?!
I have submitted all my PCC, medical and passport to delhi office for PR stamping. It has been 9 weeks since we submitted. My online status is 'in process' and I am still waiting.
I wrote to the provided email 2 weeks ago but never heard back after the automated reply. Any idea how long does it take. I have not come across anyone more than 2 months. I am starting to get worried.
Also, I am in the USA, and have sent in my passports to delhi. Need my passports to travel soon. Any advice? Thanks!!

Did u send your passports from USA to Delhi by courier? That is illegal? Generally they will send back the passports to your Indian address in one month time.

No, I send it via a family member going to India. They were deposited at the consulate personally by the member. Thanks

I have submitted passports thro VFS Chennai and got back passports in one month time.

You cannot send your passport to India if you are in USA. It is illegal according to Indian Law. You should have informed NDVO that you are currently in USA and as you cannot travel to India so you would like to CIC to complete Visa stamping procedure at your(Currently residing Countrys) VO.

Wait for NDVO to reply. They usually take 40-45 days to reply.

No, it is illegal to mail them, but they can be delivered with an authority letter. And I did follow that procedure. Now the concern is the wait of 9 weeks. Was wondering if someone had this long wait time....

If you have visited more countries, then it may take more time for back ground checking.

England, USA, India. The whole purpose of PCC was security check. It is really disgusting that they need to keep away passport for more than 1 month. With stamping it should be THE last thing, and not keep someone on the hook without their passports...I need to travel urgently abroad and now am stuck.

I am worried about the same issue.

without passport its almost impossible to continue working, as employer may ask to travel at anytime.

Goku,

How can we avail this facility?

sending passport away is a serious thing. especially when we dont know when it will come back.

if we can submit passport to local embassy we can easily follow up as needed, and may be in case of any emergency we can request to return the passport (with or without PR VISA stamp).....

So, Please share how can we request NDVO to do the stamping from foreign Indian embassy.....

You can just send them request email addressing to your Visa officer regarding your current location and request them if they can change that VO which is assigned for that country. Its not Indian embassy who does stamping procedure for Canadian Visa's . NDVO is not an Indian embassy, its Canadian Embassy located in Delhi.

How to address to your Visa officer ? some kind of code name written in signature as AA0011 , something like that. By addressing you can expect reply early. They sort email in 24 hours and allocate email to proper department. If it is a general query it takes around 40-45 days to reply. If its to appropriate Visa officer then it will be forwarded to that Visa officer, and he will reply soon.

Thanks goku
Thats helpful information

I believe if the NDVO officer agrees to allow submission of passport to local canadian embassy then its a much better situation. ...

Any previous example where such arrangement is allowed by NDVO?

Okk thanks.

If this kind of transfer is possible, then its very helpful to avoid anxiety of waiting for passport return.

sending passport to India from other country is not only illegal, its dangerous.
what if VFS or NDVO looses the passport, or passport got stuck in some unknown process.
without passport, we wont be able to leave the foreign country.....and it will be total mess....

ahhh.....this step would be difficult to pass....
