Hi dear members:
I just got the letter for Passport Request, which require me to submit my passport within 30 days of the letter.

Does anyone have experience or know if I can email/fax/phone immigration office of New York to request extend the 30 day timeline to like 40 days? Since I'm outside of Canada and my return ticket is in mid Jan 2012.

Any advice would be appreicated!!! Many many thanks.

Yes. PPR was sent to me in Aug but I never read that email so I didnt submit it until end of Oct after I have received response for my case status request. They didnt close my file or cancel it, so I guess 30 days it isnt a restriction. You'd better email VO and explain your situation.

Yes, don't worry, just contact the NY office and let them know you are travelling and when you will send your passport. You can use the case specific inquiry webform -

So, how did your situation resolve? I'm in sort of in the same situation and can't send my passport on time.
