Passport Request?

Hello, I've applied for my study permit for the first time ever on 27th of May.

On July 14th, I received an e-mail from CIC, asking to bring my original passport in. There was nothing said regarding decision, 1 blank page or anything that I've read about previously. I submitted my passport to VFS the same day literally an hour after the request

So my questions are...
1. How long will it take to get my passport back?
2. I get that it is not guaranteed that I will get approval but how are my chances haha?

Congrats, it means your visa has been approved. I think it should take around 3 or 4 days at most for them to return your passport back. Btw, where have you applied from?

I've applied on paper at VFS Global in Wafi Mall in Dubai.

Are you sure though, because I'm reading up on people who got their visas refused even after their passport has been requested and I think I'm psyching myself out

Yeah, dont worry. Dont over think it, there is a VERY small chance it hasnt been approved. A passport request usually means the visa has been approved.

Gave biometrics: also 27th of May 2019
Medical is not required for residents of UAE
Processing started: 30th of May, 2019
Validity of Biometrics received: 10th of July, 2019
Original Passport request: 14th of July, 2019 (submitted the passport on the same day at VAC in person)
Canadian Embassy at Abu Dhabi received my passport: 15th of July, 2019

I'll update once I get my decision
