Hi all, recently got my passport renewed & my citizenship application in progress. Do I have to update the application/IRCC with the new passport details?

I don't think you need to. Since the application cares about the 5 years period up to the date when you signed. Your new passport after the application is submitted is not part of their concerns I would assume, unless there's changes to your personal information. You can always give them call to make sure.
They asked me for it during the interview. Is that because I'm still outside? My old passport covers my entire eligibility period.
