Passport Renewal

Hi Guys,

I have question regarding passport checking at the time of test/interview.

Did they check passport physically on that day. Reason is that I am applying for my renewal and they will take 2 to 3 months for renewal. In the mean time if I receive test invitation, then what should I be showing instead of passport.

Any idea.

Yes they check the passport(s) and match all stamps.

At this point, if you cannot get back your passport, you do not have any choice but to tell CIC that you are renewing your passport, and show them fee receipt as proof.

Your passport is one of the most important piece of IDs and CIC wants to make sure you did not visit places that may potentially raise risks to Canada and that you have accumulated enough time during the past 4 years.
That being said, not showing your passport due to any reason from the applicant may trigger additional document verification with CIC and/or Residential Questionaire (RQ).

Thanks for your reply. I might then wait for test and will then renew it as it will expire in Dec 2015.

In order to avoid further delays in order to process your application, please make sure you take your all passports held in past 4 relevant years during the interview. Now its totally upon you whether you want to renew it before or after interview.
CIC Officer needs to verify all your stamps that's why he/she needs your passports held in past 4 relevant years.
