Hi,

pls i was wondering if one has to include the passport of the person being sponsored in one's application package(ie for issuance of the visa, when it is granted. ) Cant find this information anywhere on the CIC website.
This is for outland, so Im assuming it will be processed by the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

Also, does anyone know if its an issue if one sumbit's a sponsorship application just a couple of weeks after marriage? How much proof of relationship does one have to show here, especially if it is just a very, very small wedding at the registry? (no homeymoon for now, so very few pics)

Thanks!

If you read the document checklist and the country specific instructions they will say what you need to send. Usually a photocopy of your passport is sufficient.

Regarding proof of your relationship you should send as much as possible. If you think an aspect of your relationship can seem problematic, explain it. Whatever you can think the processing agent might ask about your relationship you should provide an answer to in your application.

you sent passport itself only when they request it in the official letter from the visa office, otherwise just a copy is enough.

Do NOT send the original passport. The visa office will ask you for it when they are ready (or close to) issue a visa.

As for the relationship proof... even if you send the application just a day or two after the wedding, it's fine. But you have to keep in mind, you have to include relationship proof for the duration of the entire relationship. Showing that you got married is not enough, you have to show the relationship was there before the wedding as well. Well, in the case of arranged marriages, it's a different matter, but that's a different subject.
I would include as much as you can without going overboard - so if you have 1000 pages of emails, no need to send them all, you'd send just a sample. Anything you can think of - cards, letters, proof of living together, visiting each other... every relationship is different, some have more of one thing, other more of another.
