Passport for newborn

Hi;

My spouse and I are Canadian PR expecting our baby this July 2014. We want to take the baby to India in October 2014. I want to know how soon I can obtain the Passport for the newborn and what is the procedure. I could find enough information in the CIC website. Can someone provide me with the information website? If obtaining the passport takes longer time; what is the next best option for the newborn to enter Canada after India trip?

Also;appreciate if you can provide me info on the newborns requirement for Indian Visa to enter India?

Hi,

Congratulations for the baby.

I recently applied for the Canadian passport of my daughter. All you need is the Canadian birth certificate, a respondant and the form.

It's also cheaper (57 dollars) and sometimes quicker (4 days for us). The most difficult (relatively) part was the photo, you need to do it in a photo studio who is used to newborns. But you'll be fine

For the indian visa part I can't help you unfortunately, but I heard that Canadian passport holders will get visa on arrival in India by september 2014. But again, it's just a rumor and you can cross check it with VFS or the Indian Consulate.
