My passport expires in 05/2017. I am in EE pool waiting for ITA first.

Now how many months validity is required if i succeed to the final step & CIC requests for PPR.

For how many months is permanent residency issued ?

Is it advisable to get a new passport ?

How much is your crs score?

If you have a score about 500 or so. There is a good chance that you'll get ita soon. In that case it better to submit your application with your old passport. After you submit renew your passport and send a cse to cic to update your passport info.

I think the visa is issues for one year or till the expiry of your passport.

I am sitting on 450. if you say PR visa is issued for 1 year then if get mine by 05/2016 then i will be safe i guess as my passport expires by 05/2017 ?

If you scores remain as 450, I'm pretty sure you will get PR before Passport expired.
Try to collect all ducoments and triple check before summited. According to PR visa issued,
Depending on when were you medical exam? Mine just got 5 months for the PR visa issued.

Hi, I would say to get your PP renewed ASAP. We don't know the timing of CIC announcements but you don't want to run the risk of getting an ITA and your PP not meeting the CIC validity requirements. I personally think Nov will be a quiet month (as they have already reached the previous Immigration Minister's target of '19-25' draws this year). You can't imagine Dec being very busy for EE's with a likely high volume of refugee applications to process.

Use this time to renew your PP, and then update the details of your new PP in your EE profile.

PS - No disrespect to anyone who thinks there may be a high number of draws between now and NY's day 2016.

JoacRy thanks for the reply. Currently I have 1 year 5 months left till my passport expires.
I am not sure if I can ask for a new passport now.
I guess they have 6 months or 12 months before which a passport can be reissue.
I will contact passport authority in India & see if its okay to reissue a new passport now.

I have the same issue. My passport will expire on 03/2017. And I am not allowed to renew my passport until six months before it expires. To apply for the ontario nomination program, my passport must expire at least two years later after I submit my application form. What should I do?

My passport expires in June 2016 and my application is in Process I have passed my medical too.

When it comes to PP you can call CIC and get it updated that's not an issue and with Indian passport this can be renewed only a year before the expiry. For my case I would hold my passport until last minute.

PR has nothing to do with you passport expiry date PR card is for Indefinite

Permanent residency is a "permanent" status. It doesn't expire. It can be only revoked by CIC due to serious crime or not meeting residency obligation.

There is no such thing - permanent visa. You will be getting PR card for traveling purposes. So in order to return to Canada you will need valid passport and PR card.

The single entry visa is issued with valdity till medicals or passport expire whichever is earlier. You'll need to land within 1 year from your medicals or passport expiry whichever is earlier.

I have applied my ITA with the passport I had, however as application is under processing I got a new passport. Now what I have to do? my application was submitted on Jul 20, and i will expect a decision in another 1-2 months.

Should i raise a CSE? or wait till decision comes? please advise.
