I'm a citizen of India and as per Indian Passport Law, I'm not supposed to send the passport outside the country where I'm residing by mail. I cited this reason and asked them to change the VO.

I live in NJ and provided my present address to the CIO office when I emailed them. Looks like the VO to which they will send the revised passport submission instructions is dependent on how close you're to the nearest VO. As you're in PA, I'm thinking they would ask you to send to the one in NYC.

As far as the processing times go, I'm not sure what exactly it is now. When I searched in multiple forums like this canadavisa, myimmitracker etc I see may have got in one to two weeks. And for few it took more than a month as well.
Thanks man for the details , Since i have already sent my passports , i am just waiting now , its been 2 weeks since it reached them . Will update if i hear anything from them .

That was smart . Wish i would have done the same , May be less applications in NY

Actually I was talking to a friend of mine in Canada and he asked me to do this way ... He asked me to cite the reason that sending the Indian Passport out of the country by mail is illegal and asked to request for change of VO to the one inside the U.S
