All passports issued after July 1, 2013, are ePassports. My kids both have 5 year ePassports and both are micro chipped with their data and traceable. So back to my original point. Both are identical except length of validity and cost.crazylove said:Off course there is a difference 10 years one is micro chipped with your data and its traceable.
if thats the case than 100% 10 years one for $160.screech339 said:All passports issued after July 1, 2013, are ePassports. I had the same issue. I had to renew my passport short of 2 month before the 10 year passport was added. I was in the US at the time and I had no choice but to renew it. If I was living in Canada, I would have waited long enough after passport expired to get 10 year passport.scylla said:I am still P.O.d that I had to renew my passport six months before the 10 year became available. I have a five year now but am getting the 10 once that one expires. It's a no-brainer in my opinion...
You could always on purposely destroy your passport "by mistake" and apply for a new 10 year passport replacement. One of your kids could accidentally cut the first or photo page of the passport with a scissor by mistake and thus need replacement.scylla said:I am still P.O.d that I had to renew my passport six months before the 10 year became available. There are more than 30 pages in the 10year passport.HighFive said:How many pages does 10 years one have? and 5 years one?
You really have to be a major globe trotter if you run out of pages for visa stamps.torontonian2003 said:There are more than 30 pages in the 10year passport. But given that there are few places where Canadians are required a visa for short travels, it's very likely that most Canadian travelers will run out of pages.
I was wondering if 10yrs has more pages than 5yrsscreech339 said:There is no "better" passport 5 or 10 year one. They are identical to each other except how long they are valid for. The only issue is the cost. It is more cost effective and convenient for you to get a 10 year passport.

I just got mine and I requested it for 10 years, it´s only 40 dollars more and save the hassle of a renewal in 5 years
