I am planning on applying a visitor visa for my parents. (Technically my dad is applying for one from India)
1. Does it matter if i apply from here or if he does from India?
2. My mom is dependent on my dad as she is a home-maker, she does have some funds in her sayings account.(On her application, we mentioned the same amount as dad and for the question "Is someone else paying you for the trip, we mentioned yes and put my dad's name.) I am planning on attaching a letter of financial support signed by dad, is that fine?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to hearing for you.
Have a great day!
1. You can apply on their behalf but it is processed from India.
2. Your mom is tied to your dad's application so funds from your dad will be included in her application. You can attach a letter if you want.

Hi All,

I created an account on the new IRCC portal in the name of my father to submit his visitor visa application from this account. I came across the question below and am not sure whether to say Yes or No. My mother and sister will also be in the application.

* Are you applying on behalf of someone else? (required) If you're preparing an application for someone else, you're a representative. To be someone's representative, you must provide the right forms to show you have their permission to handle their application for them.

Question. For whom is this question for? Is this for my father or for myself? I want to appoint myself as his representative. Considering this, should I answer it 'yes'?

Would be really helpful if you could please suggest. Thanks in advance!!

You are preparing an application for someone else (which in this case, your father). You're a representative and the question is for you. To be your father's representative, you must provide the right forms to show you have their permission to handle their application for them.

Thank you @steaky! This makes sense.

In this case where I want to be the representative for my father. Should I create an account on the IRCC portal using my own details (i.e., my name and phone no.) instead of using my father's details?
