Parents visitor visa application stuck on biometric

Hi All,

My parents applied visitor visa on Aug 20 2020 and since then have received request for biometric which will expire around Nov 20, 2020. They are in Bangalore, India and plan to go to the vfs office in there to provide biometrics.

It seems VFS offices across India are closed and there have been no guidelines from IRCC on how to proceed next.

Can you please help us know what are the options at this time?
Can we request biometric exemptions?
How can they come to Canada sooner since we need them with us during these tough times .

P.S: I and my wife are permanent residents in Canada and my parents are Indian Citizen.

My mum is also stuck at the "biometric completed" since March. I read it somewhere that you need to send an email to CIC, I'm not sure.
Have you done anything?

You need biometric so your only option is to wait until VFS opens although it seems some Indians are flying to Dubai to get their biometrics done.

I have seen the news that VFS in India is now open for some classes, FCP and students. But does the parents would be also coming to this category and biometrics can be done. I also have to do the same.

No. Your parents have to wait until VFS open biometrics for Visitor visa applicants.

You need biometric so your only option is to wait until VFS opens although it seems some Indians are flying to Dubai to get their biometrics done.

As previously noted many are flying to Dubai or Nepal to do their biometrics.

Options are to either wait until they can get biometrics done in India - or to fly to Dubai or Nepal to get biometrics done.

Those are your only two options.

Also, I am just trying to book via VFS Nepal.. I see slots for April but May is all grayed out.. Does it mean the slots have not opened yet? Thanks.

No - it won't help. Biometrics centres in India are not accepting biometrics appointments for visitors at this time.

I don't know the answer to your second question. I would recommend that you read through this section of the forum and look for threads that discuss getting biometrics done in Nepal and Dubai and ask your question there.

Hi I have a question regarding my parents visit visa. I applied online for my parents as my Dad as the primary applicant. The date of final application was April 4th 2021. My dad got a BIL on April 5th 2021 but my mother has still not received a BIL. Will the BIL's be separate or just one under one account?
