Hello,

My parents applied for visitor visa application (previous visa expired due to passport expiry) together in March 2025. My Mom's visa has been approved since April but there has been no update on my dad's file.

I have raised webforms and gcms and see no progress at all in the gcms notes. My MP tried contacting IRCC as well but they have not been able to get a response/update since last 5-6 weeks.

What can be done in this case? Should he withdraw the application and then apply again? Please share any suggestions/recommendations that I can follow to get my dad's file processed or get an update.

Thanks

So wasn't in military or police force? Can withdraw and reapply but may take just as long.

No military or police force. He has been to Canada before on previous visit visa. Also has active US visa and has been to US twice for a few weeks. Same profile as my mom but unfortunately only one received a decision

It is not a rejection unless there is a refusal before withdrawal notification is received and as long as officer hasn't opened and made a decision.
Thank you. Is withdrawal recommended in this case? I'm a little confused as to why only one applicant received a decision and there has been absolutely no movement on the other since the submission daste as per the last gcms received.

Your parents applications aren't processing at the same time or may not even by the same officer. So could be in another officer's queue for review. If you withdraw, he starts over and it may or may not be reviewed any faster. So your call. Ask a lawyer.
