Guys I am hoping someone is able to answer here. My father has type 2 diabetes. I am worried about HbA1c (Glycosylated hemoglobin) test. People with Diabetes have to go through this test during medical Exam and less then 6.5% reading is considered normal by cic.

My father had this test done by himself few days ago and from its report it looks like he is definitely going to be referred to a specialist i.e. will have to go through Furtherance process.

My question is how bad it is for immigration file to go through furtherance in a medical? DO the Panel physician refer you to specialist right away? or do you get a written request through mail/email by CIC ? Has anyone gone through the similar situation?

Based on what I know Type 2 diabetes is not considered a huge drain on the system.

now here is what you can do to get a good hba1c reading, this reading is an average blood glucose levels over three months. hoping that you have enough time i suggest that your father becomes really vigilant about his blood glucose using diet and medication. based on my previous experience it is very likely that with strict control you can reach a level of <7.

yeah I see what you are saying. I wonder what does the Nephrologist checks during the furtherance in cases of diabetes. I believe he probably checks kidneys and other related organs to make sure they are working properly and whether they beginning to show signs of damage. his analysis would determine how likely the applicant would develop complication in next 5 to 10 years leading to excessive demand on health care. I could be wrong but lets see if someone else here knows what does a specialist do in furtherance.

I am trying to decide whether my parents should get medical exams done now and hopefully by the time my father sees specialist during the furtherance his HbA1c level is lowered and less than 6.5%. (by the way His kidney and vision and related test are fine. So no problem there)
OR
whether he should just wait for another 5-6 weeks for medical altogether.

Lets see what opinions I can get from here.

Hi,

Need help on some specific questions.

I filed for my parents application on June2009. He case gt approved from Mississauga and was transferred to ND. We received a letter a week ago requesting us to send papers, medicals and original passports. Even though we marked AbuDhabi as local office since they live in Dubai, but the file went to India (New Delhi).

Questions:

# If we send the passports to ND, and they are asked for an interview, how will they travel to ND Since the passports will be with India.
# Do you have an idea as to how much time it tkes after we send the passports and documents

Thanks

If his sugar levels are not where they should be then waiting makes more sense.

you don't have much to worry about if his kidney function and vision etc are fine. thin filament test is another one that can be done to check neurological damage in the periphery (usually foot).

overall I do not see much of an issue here but its always better to be safe.

Hi, I was the one who advised you to come here

1st Question: Is there any Indian Address/Mailing Address on the forms? coz they will mail passports to Indian address only ( while in process if required and/or when the file is complete ) so you need to sort that out first as well

As per your query
1) Most likelihood, Interview isn't required but if it is, then you need to request for passports so someone can go to India and get the passport back ( with authorization ) to Abu Dhabi and then they can travel back - New Delhi doesn't care about persons inconvenience or where you are ( My Folks are already in Canada on visitor ), and still file went to India, whereas no dependent cases + in Canada files went to Ottawa where the process was streamlined and all inside Canada but whatever bad luck, I went all the way to India to drop passports and I will go back to pick them up too. Another option is ( very less likely ) that you email New Delhi and tell them, about your situation and ask them to request passport ONLY when case is complete so they can travel, mail the passport, wait for 2-3 weeks or whatever and then travel back with it
2) Process time can take from anywhere from 7 months +
