Hi Shuga, did your parents also apply for visas before 2006 or was 2006 their earliest one?
no, they did not apply for visas before 2006... i did not expect to see this info - looks like they dumped everything what's in the system for my parents into 1 file and sent it to me...
the forms are here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5563.asp
not sure how useful it is if there are no issues with the case...

I am just curious to see what is in there :-) Maybe not much use - I agree :-) but $5 not a big deal

When applying, did you also have to supply the consent forms signed by parents (each of them) - looks like they require it when requiesting information for someone else.

Also, what is the difference between FOSS and CAIPS?
only person in canada can order caips/foss... so only you can order it for your parents (you - requestor, your parents - clients)... it's the same form - you just need to mark what you want to receive... i don't remember what i selected... at that time i was not sure if my case would be forwarded to Ottawa or local office so i think i selected both caips and foss...

yes - i included a concent form from my parents... i think i even included a concent from my husband because he is a co-sponsor in my application - just in case :)

See this and if you like answer:

Thanks for the link. I filled the questioner and recommend everyone on this forum to go and fill it too. No one knows what does it mean living away from family and wanting them to be here. This redesign will not affect us but think of all other ppl like us that are going to apply after government redesigns the sponsorship application process.

Thanks again for sharing the link

Thanks! THe consent form should be original, should it (i.e. not a fax)? I.e. I guess my parents would have to fill it and mail it to me (since they are not here), right?

i don't know... i provided the original because my parents signed this form in November and sent to me with other documents... i'm not sure if i need to provide the same concent again... i asked my parent to sign, scan and send it to me in e-mail so i will attached a scanned copy with my second request...

That was smart thing to do. I did not look into this then. Will ask my parents to mail it to me I guess.
I am wondering if use of representative form applies to that situation though (we did submit one for me to Mississauga).

You don't need a request letter for PCC. So you can start PCC whenever you think is the good time.

I asked my parents apply for PCC because it takes some time to get it in my country and I am still waiting for sponsor approval.

i requested FOSS notes mid February and received them recently... depending on what you are requesting it contains all records for your parents, including previous visa applications, medicals, copies of all documents provided, notes that CIC agents made... it has information about correspondence with you, if medical forms were send, if security check is started/completed, etc... for me it was a CD with 112 pages pdf file...

i'm planning on ordering them again soon to see if there is any progress...

Thanks Shuga for the insight.

Checked CIC website and found 'Decision made' status for my parent's immigration. Waiting for the letter to arrive and started PCC process...quite happy and excited...
