Hello Rajaji i agree nothing like having a open spreadsheet open to all.....
I understand Kandel. Open forums are for sharing knowledge with each other. Expectations from people are to be honest and responsible. However, some people will try to make it difficult for others, sometimes for fun and at other times to distrupt. To lock or restrict open forums will defeat the purpose and objective of open forums. There are limitations what can be done to protect the already posted information in spreadsheet...so for that backups is the best alternative.

Take Care.

O okay, great, yes thats what I was wondering

So you have to stay a dependent untill approved correct?

Thanks for the reply, :)
Correct.

I'm not a fulltime student, but I took several short term courses during all these years and I didn't work at all these years (now and then I give private English lessons at home, but that's once or month or so, nothing formal). I'm fully dependant on my mother and I stated that when they requested docs in 2011. Since I was already 22 when they started processing I panicked a little, but the consulate informed me that my age is "locked in" when they receive the application, so despite being 22 when they actually started processing, I'm still a Type A dependant.

They did ask details about what I did all these years (as they do for everyone in the Background Check form), but they didn't ask to submit any transcriptions or anything.

The chances do not look bright. As it appears that the block would not be lifted until 2014. Even when it does lift, there is going to be a lot of changes as regards who can sponsor? who can be sponsored? etc. However, to me, its more beneficial for Canada to absorb parents with dependents than parents w/o dependents (the whole free medicare debate). Lets see how things turn out.

O okay,
thats good to know. thanks for the reply. Now well just have to wait and see when the hold is lifted and if they make any drastic changes to dependents.

@Sakamath- yeah thats true. i agree with you on the dependent thing, they are young and can become part of the economy and community etc. Especially if there whole family is in Canada, it wouldnt make sense for them to not be here aswell. but we will wait and see what happens with the dependent part.

Thanks for the replies :)

Hi,

I applied through Mississauga and received confirmation of approval of sponsorship, and parent PR application sent to Ottawa-Pilot. Have recieved letter asking for medical and police check, have completed both. However I cannot see any status on the website - I have tried searching by UCI and File no. with both my mothers surname and DOB and mine (I am rep).

How do you guys see status??

Hi guys,
Question to those whose parents had medical done in Canada: from your experience how long did it take to hear regarding medicals (i.e. either get medical received status or get furtherance request)?
My parents just did medicals just recently (couple of weeks ago) so I know it is way too early to expect to hear anything but I am just curious. Unfortunately, I am 100% sure my dad will get furtherance request (not sure about mom, hopefully none but it does not matter of course, as it is a joint application processing) so just trying to anticipate when it is likely going to happen.

Have anyone's parents been asked to see a specialist or get an expensive test (if in canada on visitor visa while doing medicals)? I think our xray report mentions that ct scan is recommended to confirm something about his lung (even though we did provide some past xrays, showign no changes for many years, but they are from the home country and may not be 'officialy' acceptable). So I am really worried they will ask for the scan (it is more than $1000 here :-( ) and / or specialist. Another x-ray would be no issue (not that expensive and I would be mentally prepared for that request) but ct-scan cost kind of 'hurts' ;D :'(

What happens if you start medical in one country (i.e. canada) but then have to go home because of visa expiry or other needs? (those furtherance things can take months of back and forth...)

I am hoping and praying for the best possible outcome of this process with medicals but trying to be prepared for 'curveballs'
Hi Anik, As you already know I am in similar situation as you are. We needed specialist appointment which was additonal $200, and sputum test. Was advised another x-ray will be requested in 3 months. My mother is no longer in Canada so will need to do the x-ray in England. Have advised Immigration of this and awaiting a reply. There has been no update on e-cas to date.

It seems the calculation of days passed since application isn't correct calculated at least in my case as you can see below:

Days passed since application: 1596
Application date is Feb, 28 2008 and '1596' days back means June, 25 2008

Please note same problem with days passed since transferred.
"select sysdate - TO_DATE('28-02-2008','DD-MM-YYYY') from dual;"
is: 1714.6473

That's because, Google uses 360 days per year in their days between dates function. This gives us a ballpark figure to estimate the number of days it takes to process. Since its applied across the board, it should be fine - for me at least.

One more thing to note regarding Days since application, once the PR Decision Made date is populated, the number of Days since application would stop to increment beyond this date.

Ok, that's the correct answer because the difference was over 120 days in my case, and with 5 days lost per year , it should passed more than 20 years to create that difference (-;

I get what you mean. I have corrected the formula. Let me know if it makes sense now. :)

Friends
I have a good news to share. I got an email from Ottawa Pilot today requesting the passports for my parents. Our LVO is New Delhi and we have been asked to send the passports to New Delhi visa office. :)
