hi just want to ask this. does a haf body stroke victim parent who has just turned 60 and who has just arrived couple of months in Canada as PR have any benefits/welfare like monthly allowance from the government. thanks for your inputs.. :)

If the parent was sponsored, then the sponsoring child is responsible for the costs of the parent. (housing, food, necessities, etc)

The parent can work anywhere, but have no right to welfare. Provincial Health Care in most provinces starts 3 months after arrival.
Hopefully the parent has private health insurance for the 3 initial months.

It is possible. If you live in Quebec, you can go to http://www.rrq.gouv.qc.ca/en/invalidite/Pages/invalidite.aspx and read from there. However, if you have sponsored your parent for PR, you are liable to support them financially for 10 years after they go their PR. If they get money from the government, the government will most likely send you the bill.

ok thanks..

Hi mash_afg
for some reason I am unable to reply via personal text msg, maybe becoz I am a new member? anyways, I filed for my parents and siblings sponsorship in August 2010. only recived AOR from CIC-M and thats all. my parents are in Afghanistan and the visa office responsible for afg cases is Islamabad visa office. can u plz brief me a little about ur case, when did u file, any dependants included? and what is the progress of ur case so far? I am trying to gather additional docs in advance to save time, my main problem is birth certificates. none of my siblings including my self has it:( becoz afg never had birth certificates...its just recently...like 1-2 years that they started giving birth certificates...what to do in this case?? any alternative to birth certificate that u r aware of?

You should only expect reply from CIC if there is any issue. Think it this way.. "No News Is Good News".. ;D

The best way is to contact CIC and made the change. I believe it's a typo made by CIC officer during the data entry. It has to be corrected ASAP. Errors like this for birthday are very rare, usually wrong spelling of names. DOB is an important personal Identification.

Update:

My parents e-cas shows "medical received" :D
But it has not changed to "processing" it still shows document received. I wonder how long it will take to change to processing?

Hi SSJ,

Does your e-Case status shows 'medical received'?

Congrats!!! My e-cas shows "medical received" from the first week of June. So far, stats has NOT changed to 'In Process'.

I am not sure how many conclusions can be drawn from the Ecas information regarding "in process" vs "app received". Even if it only says "app received" they may still be working on it. Ours switched to "in process" a few weeks after meds were done (and "meds received") showed up on Ecas. So far, nothing more has happened. This was at the beginning of June.
Good luck to all of us...!

Since your Doc's Request was Nov 25th, it might have stated that you could take steps to get the pcc. Some later applicant's letters clearly specified that they should not submit the PCC. If this was not applicable to you, then you can send it to the LVO. As it is, there is simply no point in holding on to it.
