Canadian Embassies/High Commissions holding passports for long periods does not make any sense. This practice essentially restricts the person from travelling overseas. Canadian High Commissions or Embassies should ask for passports only when visas are ready to be issued. A complaint should be made to the CIC or Minister or this should be reported to media to raise awareness towards this practice.

I agree. By any means CIC does not have a right to hold passports for so long. This is totally absurd.

Hi,

1) Is this Decision is positive or negative?

Hi,

In response to your questions I would say:

1) Almost Positive
2) Generally CPP-O sends a letter to the PA/Rep. very next day from the start of processing day. If you do not receive a letter or an e-mail, contact CPP-O.
3) In my case we did not receive any communication or PP request from CPP-O, therefore I sent an e-mail to CPP-O requesting them to resend the communication. Fortunately, CPP-O responded back to us after three weeks with a PP request.

I hope these answers will help. Good Luck.

Thanks >>> Deekay09

it all depends on your travel history etc although a year is excessive in any case.

well they mention about RCMP screening all over the place but never mentioned about receiving results from Ottawa, so I am going to confirm tomorrow with Ottawa about the results. my dad went for finger prints in November last year.

Can't agree more. Its almost an arrogance on their part assuming people who apply for canadian people would not be traveling elsewhere in the meantime. Some people go to other countries and in my case my parents had a Canadian tourist visa, but that expired while they held the passport. 9 months now.

I see on this forum there is still some activity at delhi office despite strike, my MP was giving excuse that he can't get response due to that.

I think I have seen other posts but if someone needs their passport, can they or representative go to ND and collect it, resubmit again in a like a week

hello everyone

I got my GCMS notes for my parents today and it says the following

1) medical - passed
2) criminality - Assigned to XXX, due date - July 25th 2013
3) security - Assigned to XXX, due date - July 25th 2013

not sure what that means, so can someone let me know please ?

my parents passport is with DElhi embassy since Dec 2012, no idea what they are doing there

Thanks
Nitin
