Parents in Canada just received supervisa. How do they get passport stamped?

Their immigration lawyer suggests they go (drive with me) across the border to Buffalo and come back the same day in order to get their passport stamped. I’m a little concerned that they might get questioned at immigration. Maybe I’m just being paranoid.
I read somewhere in this forum that they could also send their passports to Ottawa for stamping.
Could someone suggest the best possible way? Thank you.

Did they have their current address on their application? Howlong have they been visiting Canada?
