I co signed my in laws PR application in 2020 however now I have received the invitation to submit the application. My spouse makes enough income can he sponsor them alone if I withdraw my co signing or does he have to re apply? If I withdraw will their application be denied.

If he makes enough and yours can cover for your parents then why can't he just be a cosigner on your parents application? That way you don't have to withdraw anything.

It is his parents not mine
Looks like in 2020 then you did not cosign the PR application. Do you mean expression of interest? And now in 2024 is when his parents got picked in the pool and have to submit the PR application?
If this is the scenario then I would imagine what is submitted with the PR application now is what matters. A couple that has divorced between expression of interest and PR application submission will not have the spouse as a cosigner during application submission. That does not make the application ineligible if the sponsor income meets the thresholds in the last 3 years.

However, it is advisable to have the spouse as a cosigner because sometimes the application may take years to process. During that time if the sponsor has a bad year in terms of the income thresholds not being met and in case IRCC checks the income again then the application could be rejected.

Just my 2 cents. I am not an immigration related professional.

I don’t remember if I signed the expression of interest. My husband have a government job so I am sure he won’t have any income loss so if I don’t co sign it should be fine even if I signed the expression of interest

Why do you want to remove yourself as co-signer if there is no harm in leaving your name there.

I don’t see any reason doing the under taking for 20 years when I know it can be done without me.
That makes sense.
You husband has a good job. you cant get any secure that a government job and if he also does not see an issue I dont think there is any harm.
Like what was said above. life is very unpredictable and this application can take years, if anything happens to your husbands ability to make that income having your signature there would be beneficial.
