Hello all,

I got an email with the following information and was hoping for some help understanding what it means.

"We can send an RFV letter to them, which would allow them to enter Canada and be declared permanent residents after they have documents/photos processed by the Ottawa IRCC office. To send the RFV letter, we need confirmation they can come to Canada before 2024/12/01.

Please confirm by responding to this email, and we will take the next steps."

That's all the information the email has and the MyCIC account has no updates. I believe saying they can issue an RFV means they are approved for PR, but I'm not sure what the steps for document/photo processing is. When they issue the RFV, will that come with further instructions? If they come to Canada, is the expectation that they have to stay in Canada while the documents are being processed?

Thanks for any info!
RFV is Ready for visa letter

Hi All
We have completed everything up until the Police Certificate. I was unable to link my parents account so was hoping to get some insight.

Me, wife as a cosigner and I have a 3 year old kid.

I am sponsoring my father, mother and younger sister (20 years old now).

what number should I use?

Also, which option should I select to link the account?

You need to use 5 = You + your wife + father + Mother + sister

Why are you not including their 3 year old child?
That's how it worked for me 2 weeks ago . I am sponsoring my parents and my spouse is a cosigner . I have 2 kids and I tried all the possible combination 4, 6 , 8( as previously I sponsored my in-laws who already have a PR now).

4 worked = I , my spouse + father + mother .
I have also seen comments from many others on this forum where they calculated the number of people the same way .
If you still get an error message , take a screen shot and submit a web request with the screen shot to CIC . Usually they reply back within 5 days

Also , I was able to link it in my GCkey account only with UCI and not with application number for some reason.

I am trying to link the application for my parents, but unable to do so yet. When linking the application, the application details should be of principal applicant or the sponsor?

And should I use 3 family members or 2. Since I am sponsoring my father (principal applicant) and mother (dependent) without a cosigner. Any thoughts?

Application details should be that of Principal applicant.
For your case, number of people in the application is 3 (you + father+ mother)
Good luck!

Generally, police certificates are required for countries where the applicant has stayed for 6 months or more in a row. And those are periods from when the applicant turned 18 years AND it has to be within the last 10 years.

However, there may be additional instructions on case by case basis.
See the link below for examples and clarifications, I hope that helps. Good luck!

I could not link my parents' application for the longest time because I was using #4.
I am the sponsor. = 1
My wife is NOT a sponsor. = 0
and my parents = 2
I finally tried #3 and it worked! I also used the details of my father. E.g. his place of birth. His country of passport. His intended city of residence in Canada (per the application). I hope it helps.
