I agree process is slow but background check start after application number is printed or it can happen before that ? As with F12 trick i see that last update on my file was at 1 Jan 2022. but i did not receive any AOR, ghost update
The first last update is the date case worker assigned, you will get ghost email once case worker make notes (either completed or not completed) for your application.

Lots of people who submitted application in 2021 between September and December have already passed the AOR stage. Their parents have biometric done, medical examination done. And they have the sponsorship approved. This is not based on submission time. It is depends on case worker assigned. I do understand it is long process for PGP, but few of us still outside of processing time after half year waiting, that is very frustrating.
I submitted my application Oct 31 2021, did the f12 trick and it was updated dec 24 2021, but up to now nothing, not even ghost email

No background checks will only start after AOR, biometrics and sponsor eligibility.

Correct ,PGP is not high priority. However, from what I can see, the speed of 2021 applications which submitted via portal is faster for most of people(not for me though)

There are still quite a lot of people waiting for AOR. Just because you haven’t received AOR first doesn’t mean your application will be approved after everyone else. There are many factors that will influence processing during the process from health, country, etc.

Sponsorship approval comes at the end so I assume you mean sponsor eligibility approval. Most have not received this. Most have also not done medicals because due to longer processing times they are often delayed until later on in the process. Many have only received AOR in March so you will likely get AOR in April. Later AOR doesn’t mean your application will be approved last. Given that a large proportion didn’t even get a spot and many countries don’t allow parent sponsorship with access to public healthcare you are still very lucky.

Hello,
When we submit our application, we promise to support our parents for 10 years (for Quebec).
My question is, once our parents land in Canada, will they consider as dependents and it has impact in our income tax? Do you know should we contact the HR and ask them to update our file (form TD1, Personal tax credits)?
Thanks!

I believe yes potentially we can claim parents as dependents on our taxes...but can you claim both or just one? What if you have a child who is also a dependent? I need to explore this further but will cross the bridge when we get there i.e., when parents get their PR card etc.

Will be dependent on your individual family situation. If they are your dependents it could also have repercussions on their end.

Yes, I was supposed to ask the same question.

Hi,

I got AOR for my parents/grandparents application but when try to check the application status on cic.gc.ca site shows your information is wrong but I am entering the correct information? Why is that? And also when trying to link my application to the GC key showing the same issue? What I can do?

One more question, how many members in this application? means how many members applied for PR?

Thanks,
Mona

Hi

Please did you get an email with AOR information?, did it come with the application number? Asking because most of us didnt get an official AOR but requests. Regarding the no of people, I think it would be the people you are sponsoring plus you and your spouse

PGP 2021
- Application submitted October 14, 2021
- "ghost update" email Dec 10, 2021
- Biometric not required as done in last 10 years
- Sponsor approved March 25, 2022
- File transfers to Vancouver but sponsor reside in Ontario and sponsored person reside abroad.

Anyone else in Vancouver Immigration office?
