Hi @SAM_2014 Thanks for your inputs.
Yes I think we gave 6 months but its already been 7 months and they have given 3 more months, so a total of 10 months.
My understanding now is that we have to do medical and then reapply for extension for visitor visa.

Can you also share if this medical is good for PGP application as well since we havent received medical request for our 18 month old (almost) PGP application?

We did medical for visitor and got furtherance letter for one of my parent.
Mean while got request for PGP medical and informed visa office about extension medical... and they replied that once my parents gets passed for visa extension medical then they will look into it and will confirm later that its acceptable for PGP catg or not ... so in hanging situations for both medicals.

My parents PR visas have been issued a few days ago and delivered to them, yet the expiry date of the visas are Jan. 17 2021. Does this mean that they only have about 1 month to land in Canada? Considering current Covid restriction measures, and limited number of flights they may not be able to plan for this travel. (their medical exam was on Jan 20 2020, and I guess the expiry date is relevant to this!) Any advice please...

I received my notes this morning. Criminality/medical passed, eligibility/security not started but they've been assigned to someone. They have a "due date" of Feb 10/21. My mum is in a covid-free country so perhaps she's better off there for now, rather than being locked in a house with us in AB.

This is great news as it means CPC-Mississauga are working on files where parents are not in Canada

All the best, I think you will receive a PPR soon. Finally CPC Mississauga started working again.

Yes, they said it will be decided by the case processing officer if he/she wants to extend it or not.

Yes. If you need more time, you have to request it with local visa office
